Applied Muscle Testing with Bob Guiel

Author: Zane Lawrence

Bob Guiel - AMTRecently Hayden, Pete and I attended a course run by world renowned AMT expert Dr. Bob Guiel. He taught us firsthand the value in muscle testing to identify nutrient deficiencies, food sensitivities and identifying potential issues with different organs in the body.

Having been previously skeptical of muscle testing, seeing Bob work on Hayden first hand to identify a genetic deficiency in producing glutathione was nothing short of incredible. Especially as this correlated with all his symptoms and explained something that the previous 3 doctors had been unable to work out to the degree of accuracy Dr Bob was able to show off one consultation.

Applied muscle testing (AMT) may not be the be all and end all of assessment tools, but in the hands of a skilled practitioner can be a valuable addition. Inner Strength currently offers muscle testing through Dr Cindy de Villiers in addition to 3 of our coaches. Applied muscle testing has a range of applications including nutrient deficiencies, food intolerances, toxicity identification and metabolic addressing dysfunctions.

So, here’s ten things I learned from Dr Robert Guiel;

  1. Energy bracelets which have recently become popular work by manipulating energy fields within the body. According to Dr Guiel they work well for 33% of the population, 33% does nothing, and 33% can worsen symptoms.Example given was a power lifter Bob was working with who had damaged a pectoral muscle whilst bench pressing and had been unable to press for over a year as his pec would not heal. Bob muscle tested his bracelet and found it was negatively affecting his ability to heal. On removal of the bracelet the power lifter was pressing after a month.
  2. Many vaccines have had the mercury removed due to the ill health effects, but it has instead been replaced with aluminium which is still considered neurotoxin.
  3. AMTCandida and H pylori are considered opportunistic organisms. An environment favourable to their overgrowth has to be first be created for them to flourish. So Candida or H pylori overgrowths are can be by-product of poor gut ecology.
  4. Gluten causes a transient inflammatory response in 100% of people tested in one study. Gluten can be in many skin care products and is the main component in the glue in stamps and envelopes. So someone who has an allergy or sensitivity to gluten (note there is a difference) can expose themselves to gluten without ingesting it.
  5. Oral contraceptives depletes the nutrients folic acid, vitamin B1, B2, B3, B6, B12, C, magnesium, selenium, zinc. This can lead to depression, sleep disturbance, weight gain, increased risk of cardiovascular disease and more ill effects.
  6. Food Sensitivities are a problem with the immune system. Expanding on this a person who has an auto immune condition will find that multiple foods can cause the onset of a cascade of symptoms, dealing with the issue involves refortifying the gut and “taming” the immune system.
  7. Dr Bob Guiel referenced a ten year study on statins that showed the reduction in heart attacks since their introduction was 0.07%.
  8. According to Dr Guiel statins deplete Coq10 in the heart. If a person has been prescribed statins they need to be on CoQ10 supplementation at recommended dose of 100mg x2 per day.
  9. NSAIDS block glucosamine uptake, this can lead to damage in tendons and ligaments if a person is on NSAIDS long term.
  10. Sensitivities vs Allergies. Allergies create histamines where sensitivities react with antibodies, T Cell immunity and humoral defences. Key thing to remember is that not being allergic to certain foods is no guarantee that you don’t have sensitivities to that food.
