My experience of BioSignature Modulation

I learnt the hard way that my body doesn’t respond well to peanut butter sandwiches on white bread.

Nutrition and food labels became a huge part of my life when I was diagnosed with Coeliac Disease at the age of 9. It took me a long time to figure out and accept how I needed to eat, therefore, a lot of damage was done along the way.

It wasn’t until 10-12 years later when I began to understand the importance of nutrition that I started looking for a way to fix the damage to help improve my body composition. This eventually led me to becoming involved with Biosignature Modulation.

‘Biosignature is based on the correlation between body fat distribution and possible hormonal imbalances’ (Poliquin®). This method looks at how the body responds to stress, sleep, the way you train, what you eat and then how all of these pieces of the puzzle come together to affect body composition and hormonal status.

I became aware of BioSignature Modulation before I started working at Inner Strength Performance Centre. I appreciated that it was a standardised, yet specific and individualised approach to getting leaner and improving overall health. The BioSignature method provides greater insight into a person’s physiology allowing you to address more than training and diet alone. Moving through this process as a client, I tracked measurements, training sessions, my nutrition, sleep, lifestyle habits and in turn learned a great deal about the appropriate methods for me as an individual. Regular check-ins began to build a bigger picture and allowed for further fine-tuning in all of these areas. I was impressed with the information I had learned throughout this process and was excited to be able to use this as personal trainer, hence why I enrolled myself in this course.

During the BioSignature seminar, we examined the relationships between different hormones in the body, how they work, how they respond to different cues and how in turn relate to your body composition and body fat distribution.

The number one consideration of BioSignature is there is ‘no one size fits all’. Although clients can produce similar profiles, every person requires a slightly different approach which BioSignature allows you to tailor.

Some of the important things that I learnt:

1.  There is a huge amount of supplements available out there. All of which vary in quality, effectiveness and price, however, no matter how good the product, you can’t supplement your way around a crappy diet.

2.  There are many common behaviours people carry out a daily basis (perhaps without being aware) that contribute to hormonal imbalances making it challenging to see progress – BioSignature teaches what to look for and how to recognise the things people are doing to create these undesired physiologies within their bodies.

3.  Relationships between different body sites can indicate the best approach for an individual. For example, the subscapular measurement can indicate the amount of carbohydrates a person can currently take in and use effectively.

4.  BioSignature can be used to dial in training and nutrition and to accelerate progress in both of these areas. Measurements and fluctuations from consult to consult can indicate if training and nutrition is on target – using the information gathered, you are able to modify training types, frequency and nutritional strategies intake to get accelerated results.

5.  Different combinations of supplements can be used to target possible hormonal imbalances or address limitations to improving health– in conjunction with diet, training and other lifestyle changes (You still can’t supplement your way around a crappy diet).

Being a client first before becoming a trainer and then a Biosignature practitioner has been invaluable in building my knowledge around what actually works vs what just sounds good. And I can say with confidence and experience that Biosignature works. Biosignature can work especially well for people who have tried different approaches to getting healthier and leaner that haven’t been successful.

I appreciate that BioSignature is not just someone’s opinion. It has been tried and tested and is developed on a significant amount of scientific research. The application provides a blend of what the science says and what people have found to work in a real life setting.
